When people talk about speech recognition in the context of clinical care, almost all of the attention goes to support clinical documentation and EMRs. However, there’s another equally compelling use case: CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry). While CPOE adoption is a key metric for meaningful use, both in the inpatient and ambulatory setting, less than 25% of hospitals have it up and running. Speech recognition can make the ordering process much faster and more efficient.
